Brand New
A blog by Armin Vit that comments on logo and graphic identity redesigns - from the big stories to the unknown. Removed due to switching to a subscription model (not that I blame Armin, but I try to keep my linkroll free).
-
caniuse
Check to see if you can use a web development technology. Removed as it's pretty well-known, and most of the content is on MDN anyway.
-
The Small Web
By the author of Against a User Hostile Web, this is a follow-up article detailing small, creative, and individualised sites that are still out there. As it's a follow-up, it belongs in that entry.
-
Developers share their most memorable dirty coding tricks
Anecdotes from game developers detailing ingenious workarounds derived from dealing with various issues. Too short to deserve its own entry.
-
Internet Map
A visual map of the internet from ~2011 - but since the creator of the site hasn't updated it, it serves as a time capsule of sorts. Getting too out-of-date to be interesting.
-
Armorial of Europe
A list of European arms on Wikipedia. The valuable part of this is not the individual articles for each, which are easy to find, but what's in the Domestic armorial and Domestic heraldic traditions columns. Page modified so it no longer has said information.
-
districts.neocities.org
A handy directory of many Neocities sites, named after the similar Geocities concept. Not updated.
-
mrdoob.neocities.org
Some neat 3D objects made using the ThreeJS library. Neat, but not enough there to make things worth the visitors' while.
-
RationalWiki
Although their name is extremely obnoxious, and their attitude against religion can get tiring, their articles pointing out the flaws in some New Age and conspiracist thinking are great. Most new content is just a worse version of stuff on Wikipedia.
-
Longreads
A direct rival to Longform made by the people behind WordPress. It isn't as good, but it's still worth a look. Doesn't need its own entry.
-
appelsaus.neocities.org
Pixel drawings of coats of arms and a bunch of neat art. Blanked :(.
-
TV Tropes
The classic time waster, amassing trivia and tropes aboout every show imaginable. I personally like to browse by category, like Dream Tropes or Character Flaw Index. Although there's some cool stuff there, a lot of it is kinda shit.

SCP Foundation Wiki
A huge writing project about an organisation that collects "anomalies" that contradict natural law. Many of the stories are written in a faux-scientific format. Had some controversy re. covering up abusers so I'm not comfortable promoting it.
