Hello! This is a little gallery of open-source fonts I like. Almost all of these designs are original, but a few are basically similar-as-is-legal clones of paid fonts, like Arial is to Helvetica. They are marked with a †.
Note that the quality of free fonts is sometimes not as high as their paid equivalents: they can have quirky kerning, a slim character set, etc. Therefore, if you can afford it, I recommend considering supporting a independent type foundry.
If you've wondering, this website is set in U001 and Nimbus Roman by URW, which were released for free as part of the Ghostscript project.
I also recommend checking out Velvetyne's list of open-source type foundries and Uncut.wtf. If you're looking for more retro or pixelly stuff, the Oldschool PC Font Resource has reproductions of many classic computing fonts.
